Why a hardware wallet?
Hardware wallets store private keys offline, protecting them from malware and remote attacks. Signing occurs on the device — private keys never leave it.
Safety checklist (before setup)
- Buy from the official site or authorized reseller only.
- Use a secure computer and avoid public machines.
- Prepare a secure physical place to store the recovery seed.
Basic setup steps
- Go to the official start page and open Trezor Suite.
- Connect device and follow on-screen prompts.
- Create a PIN and write down your recovery seed.
- Confirm seed on device and run a small test transaction.
PIN, passphrase & recovery
PIN prevents local access. Passphrase is an optional extra layer (advanced). Recovery seed is the master backup—store offline.
